I simply try to live my truth. – Henrie

Henrie Dennis is the founder and chairwoman of Afro Rainbow Austria (ARA). A Nigerian-born lesbian human rights activist, art curator, and cultural mediator, she works to strengthen the social, cultural, and political realities of LGBTQI+ people of African origin in Austria, across the African continent, and within the diaspora.

Her engagement in LGBTQI+ advocacy began at an early age with House of Rainbow in Nigeria and has continued in Austria through sustained activist and professional involvement.

Henrie has collaborated with the Vienna Red Cross and worked at IBF – Intervention Centre for Trafficked Women. Alongside leading ARA and ARA Outreach Nigeria, she has facilitated workshops for Selbstlaut – Association against Sexualized Violence against Children and Adolescents, engaged in No-Border activism, and currently serves as co-chair of Planet 10, as well as a board member of the European representation of the ILGA World Women Committee.

Henrie is pursuing a PhD in Philosophy, with research interests spanning queerness, migration, redistribution of resources, gender, anti-racism, and decolonization. Through art, scholarship, and dialogue, she challenges dominant social frameworks, amplifies marginalized voices, and fosters connection across communities.
